FAQs

What is ICF mentorship in Canada?

ICF mentor coaching is a collaborative journey designed to enhance your coaching capabilities as you peruse your ICF Certification or renewal. When you work with a mentor coach, you receive specific feedback on your coaching sessions, allowing for deep reflection and growth. Your mentor coach will work with you to grow your capacity and impact in alignment with ICF Core Competencies.

Do I need mentorship for ICF certification?

Yes - The ICF requires all coaches to complete mentorship hours in order to achieve certification. For the ACC level certification the requirements are:

  • 60 hours of coaching education.

  • 100 hours of coaching experience (including at least 75 paid hours).

  • 10 hours of mentor coaching over three months.

  • Successful completion of a performance evaluation.

  • Passing score on the ICF ACC Exam.

How many hours of ICF mentor coaching are required?

The 10 hours must be completed over a minimum period of 3 months. If you began your sessions on September 1st, you would need to complete your final session after December 1st in order to qualify. Mentorship isn’t a race - we want to make sure we are growing your skills and making space for you to integrate and practice between sessions.

Three hours must be in one to one sessions, however you have a choice for the remaining seven hours. Those can be either in a 1:1 setting to continue to build on the foundations you’ve created with your mentor coach - or they can take place in a group setting with no more than 10 participants.

The mentor coach you choose must hold a valid ACC, PCC, or MCC credential. Justine holds a PCC Credential - and works for the Hornick School of Coaching, and ICF certification program in addition to running her own private practice.
