ICF ACC Renewal Checklist + Free CCE Tracker (Google Sheets)
If you’re an ICF ACC coach planning to renew within the next year, you don’t need more tabs open in your brain.
You need one clean system that keeps your renewal requirements organized—so you can spend your energy where it actually matters: becoming a more impactful coach.
This page includes:
The current ICF ACC renewal requirements (so you know exactly what you’re aiming for)
A simple, audit-friendly way to track your progress
A free, light + airy Google Sheets tracker you can copy and use immediately
Quick note about the renewal process (why organization matters)
When you renew your credential, you log your education/credits in your ICF profile. You typically don’t need to upload documentation at submission, but your application can be selected for a random audit—so keeping clean records is the difference between “easy” and “ugh.”
ICF ACC renewal requirements (what you need to renew)
According to the ICF Credential Renewal Guide, ACC renewal requires:
40 Continuing Coach Education (CCE) credits completed within your 3-year renewal cycle
Of those 40 CCE credits:
24 CCE credits in Core Competencies
3 ethics credits (counted within Core Competencies)
10 hours of mentor coaching with an eligible mentor coach, over a minimum of 3 months (these 10 hours count toward the 24 Core Competencies credits)
The remaining credits can be Core Competencies or Resource Development
If you want the simplest way to think about it, it’s this:
You’re tracking three things:
Total CCEs (40)
Ethics (3)
Mentor coaching (10 hours over 3+ months)
Download the free ACC renewal tracker (Google Sheets)
What it tracks for you (automatically):
Total CCE credits/hours
Totals by type (Core Competencies / Resource Development / Ethics)
Ethics progress toward your required 3 credits
Mentor coaching hours (and keeps your entries organized for audit peace)
Why it’s “light + airy”:
It’s built to be easy to scan, with lots of white space, simple dropdowns, and just the essentials—no clutter.
How to use the tracker (in under 5 minutes)
Download the tracker
Upload to Google Drive
Right-click → Open with Google Sheets
Click File → Make a copy (so your original stays clean)
Then you’ll start logging everything in one place using only five columns:
Activity (course/webinar/mentor coaching)
CCE type (Core Competencies / Resource Development / Ethics)
Credits/hours
Date completed
Proof link/file name
That’s it.
What counts as “Core Competencies” vs “Resource Development” CCE?
This part trips people up—so here’s the clean distinction:
Core Competencies CCE: learning that directly relates to ICF coaching competencies (the coaching itself)
Resource Development CCE: learning that supports you as a coach (business development, tools, assessments, personal growth, etc.)
(And yes—Ethics counts within Core Competencies for renewal.)
The #1 mistake I see: treating ACC renewal like admin
Most coaches don’t struggle with ICF credential renewal because they’re disorganized.
They struggle because they’re trying to hold 12 moving parts in their head:
40 CCE credits
ethics credits
mentor coaching timeline
certificates, transcripts, proof files
and “wait, does this count as Core Competencies or Resource Development?”
The tracker solves that problem by making your renewal a single weekly habit:
Log the activity → attach the proof → move on with your life.
